Donate to the School Readiness Tax Credit Program
Businesses with a Louisiana Tax ID are eligible to receive a 100% refundable state tax credit up to $5,000 for contributions to Child Care Resource & Referral Agencies (CCR&Rs), including Agenda for Children, a CCR&R for 12 parishes in Southeast Louisiana.
The School Readiness Tax Credit (SRTC) program funds Agenda’s Early Childhood Opportunity (ECHO) Fund. This innovative grant program directly supports the needs of early learning centers in our region, investing in increased access to high-quality early care and education for our youngest learners.
Quality early childhood education fuels our future. It keeps parents in the workforce, attracts companies to our state, and develops the talent and skills businesses need to succeed.
Find out why donating to the SRTC program is one of the best investments you can make. Watch our 80 for 80 video!
How the SRTC Works
This tax credit is part of a package of School Readiness Tax Credits (SRTCs) that was passed in 2007 to support quality child care and education. (La. Rev. Stat. § 47:6107)
You can take the credit against individual income tax, corporation income tax, or corporation franchise tax on your Louisiana State taxes.
You can keep your state tax dollars local by designating that your donation fund child care centers in your parish (Assumption, Jefferson, Lafourche, Orleans, Plaquemines, St. Bernard, St. Charles, St. James, St. John, St. Tammany, Terrebonne and Washington).
The process couldn’t be easier. Submit a contribution form and Agenda for Children will email you a receipt and verification letter.
Your Investment Will Pay Dividends for Generations
Every $1 invested in early childhood education yields a return to society of more than $16.
Invest your tax liability in the School Readiness Tax Credit and Louisiana will reap dividends for generations to come.
Not Investing in Early Childhood Education is Costing Us
As documented by the landmark HighScope Perry Preschool Project research, low-income children who participated in a high quality early childhood education were more likely to graduate from high school, earn more money, own their own homes and build a stable foundation for their families. Their own children have continued to make gains in education, health, employment and civic life.
