School Readiness Tax Credit
Agenda for Children has been scoring big wins for the children of Louisiana for more than 35 years. Through the School Readiness Tax Credit, you can, too.
How the SRTC Works
Businesses with a Louisiana Tax ID are eligible to receive a 100% refundable state tax credit up to $5,000 for contributions to Child Care Resource & Referral Agencies (CCR&Rs), including Agenda for Children, a CCR&R for 12 parishes in Southeast Louisiana.
This tax credit is part of a package of School Readiness Tax Credits (SRTCs) that was passed in 2007 to support quality child care and education. (La. Rev. Stat. § 47:6107)
You can take the credit against individual income tax, corporation income tax,
or corporation franchise tax on your Louisiana State taxes.
You can keep your state tax dollars local by designating that your donation fund child care centers in your parish (Assumption, Jefferson, Lafourche, Orleans, Plaquemines, St. Bernard, St. Charles, St. James, St. John, St. Tammany, Terrebonne and Washington).
The process couldn’t be easier. Submit a contribution form and Agenda for Children will email you a receipt and verification letter.
Your Investment Will Pay Dividends for Generations
Every $1 invested in early childhood education yields a return to society of more than $16.
Invest your tax liability in the School Readiness Tax Credit and Louisiana will reap dividends for generations to come.
Your investment will pay immediate dividends, too.
Your donation will help to fund Agenda for Children’s Early Childhood Opportunity Fund (ECHO) Fund. This innovative grant program seeks to increase access to high-quality early care and education for New Orleans children, birth through age four, through directly funding early child care center needs.
Not Investing in Early Childhood Education is Costing Us
As documented by the landmark HighScope Perry Preschool Project research, low-income children who participated in a high quality early childhood education were more likely to graduate from high school, earn more money, own their own homes and build a stable foundation for their families. Their own children have continued to make gains in education, health, employment and civic life.
Quality early childhood education fuels our future. It keeps parents in the workforce, attracts companies to our state, and develops the talent and skills businesses need to succeed.
