Child Care Coaching Improves the Quality of Early Care and Education
Agenda for Children provides on-site coaching and technical assistance to early care and education programs in Louisiana.
We offer two types of coaching for Early Childhood Educators:
Coaching for Type III Centers > Through our Child Care Resource and Referral (CCR&R) contract with the Louisiana Department of Education (LDE), this coaching is free to Type III Centers that are located in 12 parishes in Southeast Louisiana as long as your program meets minimum enrollment requirements.
Coaching for SCHOOLS, HEAD START and TYPE I/II Centers > All other early care and education programs can receive coaching on a fee-for-service basis.
Coaching for Type III Centers
Our expert coaches customize their coaching to fit your current needs and can help your program with a wide range of topics, including:
- Teaching Strategies GOLD
- Tier 1 curriculum
- Louisiana Early Learning and Development Standards
- classroom arrangement
- licensing information
This coaching is free for Type III Centers located in Assumption, Jefferson, Lafourche, Orleans, Plaquemines, St. Bernard, St. Charles, St. James, St. John, St. Tammany, Terrebonne and Washington parishes.
How Coaching Works
During the coaching visit, our coaches may use classroom observations, modeling and coaching to assist the program educators in improving their quality. Coaches will also collaborate with the director to develop an improvement plan that connects training, best practices and classroom experiences.
Agenda provides coaching through the CCR&R “Tiered Technical Assistance” (Tiered TA) model so that we can provide Type III center educators with the right kind of help, right when they need it. Under the Tiered TA system, all Type III centers can continue to receive free trainings, free TA over the phone or via email, and free listings in our referral database.
Practice Based Coaching
Centers that are rated as Approaching Proficient or that are engaged in formal Site Improvement Plans with the Louisiana Department of Education receive priority for ongoing Practice Based Coaching (PBC). During PBC, a coach will visit a center regularly over the course of several months to work with teachers on a specific topic. Proficient and Excellent centers are eligible for short-term coaching, which typically consists of a single visit on a specific topic.
Centers can request coaching by contacting firstname.lastname@example.org.
Agenda for Children offers fee-based, private coaching and trainings to meet the additional needs of child care programs and family child care providers, on topics such as CLASS, GOLD, Family Engagement, Behavior Management, Instructional Support and much more!
If your program would like to arrange fee-based coaching for your staff, please contact our professional development department at email@example.com.
