Resources for Early Childhood Job Seekers

Early childhood educators play a key role in the life of children by helping create a solid foundation for their future learning.

Early childhood educators work with children from birth through age five in a variety of settings: early learning programs (also known as child care centers or daycares), school-based pre-k classrooms, or family child care programs that operate in homes.

Key duties include working in classroom settings, supporting child development and learning, and documenting children's progress. Educators are also tasked with planning and facilitating meaningful and engaging activities.

Check out the Early Childhood Education Career Map for an overview of early childhood jobs.

Louisiana Pathways supports early childhood teachers who work at least 16 hours per week in a publicly-funded early learning program to obtain free certification and degrees at Louisiana’s two- and four-year colleges. Learn more here.
