Child Care Workshops Improve the Quality of Early Care and Education
In 2021, Agenda for Children provided a variety of workshops, coaching and training to nearly 5,000 educators across southeast Louisiana.
We offer classes to improve teachers’ skills related to CLASS, child assessment, child development, curriculum and much more. Our day-long seminars allow teachers to receive up to six clock hours of professional development in one day. We also offer customized workshops to schools, Head Start programs and Type I/II centers for a modest fee.

We have temporarily suspended all in-person workshops due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In the meantime, we are offering virtual workshops.
Our seminars offer early childhood educators the opportunity to engage in up to six hours of professional development in a single day. Seminars typically offer a broad range of sessions, from health and safety to CLASS.
Updated CPR Requirements
In compliance with federal requirements, on September 30, 2021, Louisiana will begin monitoring that all staff at licensed child care centers have current certification in infant and child CPR, adult CPR, and pediatric first aid through training approved by LDOE. This is a change from previous rules, which required only 50% of staff members to have current certification in First Aid and CPR.
Agenda for Children is sharing a directory of First Aid and CPR instructors to help centers meet this new requirement. The directory features a list of First Aid and CPR instructors in our region, including their contact information, delivery methods, and parishes served.

The Advanced Business Training Series from First Children’s Finance provides Type III child care program leaders in Louisiana with the opportunity to enhance their business knowledge and put into practice new business skills related to their child care program. Training participants are then eligible to receive individual consultation hours to reflect on their learning and receive direct support on the topics covered from business development staff from First Children’s Finance.
*This opportunity is provided by First Children’s Finance through a contract with the Louisiana Department of Education. We are passing along this information as a service to the sector. Register Online for Upcoming Workshops
Use our online registration system to see all of our upcoming workshops. Unfortunately, online registration for most classes is not available to staff from Type I and Type II centers or schools until we have reached a minimum number of participants from Type III centers, due to the requirements of our LDOE contact.
