ILEO | Agenda for Children

The Intentional Learning Environment Opportunity (ILEO) provides professional development and classroom materials that improve the quality of interactions and environments in early childhood classrooms. Upon completion of a focused 2-hour workshop, participants will receive a clock hour certificate and the opportunity to select a curated kit of classroom materials worth approximately $3,000, to be shipped to their employing center. Participants will continue to interact and share ideas as part of an ongoing ILEO community group, and will receive newsletters that include resources related to the workshop and materials.

There are three focus areas within the ILEO, and participants will be assigned to one of these topics for their workshop and materials on a first-come, first-served basis. The topics include: Block Play Throughout the Day; High Quality Infant and Toddler Learning Environments; and Immersive Literacy. This opportunity is available for Type III Child Care Centers and Academically Approved Family Child Care Providers in Orleans Parish. Each eligible site may participate one time in the ILEO. See below for further details.

Eligible registrants may participate one time in the ILEO, and in a single learning focus experience: Block Play Throughout the Day, High Quality Infant and Toddler Learning Environments, or Immersive Literacy. Participants will attend a 2-hour professional development workshop on the focus topic, which will include hands-on activities that feature high quality classroom learning materials. Clock hours will be awarded to participants for successful completion of the workshop. Additionally, participants will be offered a choice of one curated kit that contains classroom materials related to the workshop focus. Each kit has an approximate value of $3,000.  The kits will be delivered at a later date to the participant’s employing center. Finally, participants agree to submit photos of the materials set up in their classroom(s), and to partake in an ongoing ILEO community of practice group.

The ILEO workshops will be held at the Louisiana Children’s Museum on the following dates and times:

  • Saturday, April 20th, 10AM-12PM: Block Play Throughout the Day
  • Saturday, April 27th, 10AM-12PM: High Quality Infant & Toddler Learning Environments
  • Saturday, May 4th, 10AM-12PM: Immersive Literacy

Participants will be assigned to one workshop focus and date.

The application opens March 18th and closes at noon on March 26th. Click here to apply!
