Teacher Trainee
Start a career path in early childhood education! The LSUHSC- Early Learning Center (ELC) invites applications for Early Childhood Assistant Teacher Trainee position. Trainees will work cooperatively with certified Teaching staff to plan and implement the daily education program and ensure the health and safety of all children. All ELC classrooms prioritize diversity and inclusion and Teacher trainees will learn best practices in an inclusive early learning program.
Assistant Teacher
Assistant Teachers (all levels) work collaboratively with Lead Teacher to plan and implement to implement a developmentally appropriate curriculum that meets the individual needs of children. Assistant Teachers temporarily assume Lead Teacher responsibilities in the absence of Lead Teacher.
Lead Teacher
Under reflective supervision of the ELC Director, Lead Teachers (both levels) have overall responsibility for planning, implementing and coordinating comprehensive developmentally appropriate and individually determined services and supports for all children. Lead Teachers provide supervision to Assistant Teachers and/or Teacher Trainees working with children in their classroom. Lead Teachers maintain close communication with families of children in their care.
This is a multi-level posting. Applicants may apply for positions for which they possess at least the minimum education and/or experience. Applicants with experience beyond the minimum will be considered for the advanced levels.
*Teacher Trainee
High school diploma or equivalent and no training or experience ($13.90/hr)
*In order to maintain employment at LSUHSC Early Learning Center (ELC), Teacher Trainees must complete the Child Development Associate (CDA) training program and other ELC-specific training requirements within one-year while maintaining excellent work attendance and performance records.
Assistant Teacher has three pay levels:
a. CDA and no experience up to 23-months experience working in childcare (15.38/hr)
b. CDA and 24-months experience working in a Type III childcare center or Associates degree in Early Childhood or related field ($16.34/hr)
c. Associates degree or CDA with 12 months experience ($17.31/hr)
Lead Teacher has two pay levels:
a. Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood or related field and 1-year experience in Type III childcare center or Bachelor’s degree in an unrelated field and CDA or equivalent (minimum $40,000/year)
b. Master’s degree in Early Childhood or related field (minimum $43,000/year)
